Working as a Construction Safety Health Environmental & Quality Advisor within the Major Projects department advising on construction safety, health, environmental and quality matters on construction projects including CDM compliance.  The Major Capital Contract includes civil & electrical design and construction of new substations and the upgrading/refurbishment of old for EDF Energy/UK Power Networks. Projects range from 1 to 5 million, delivering 10 to 20 projects per year.  Works include ground works, civil construction, electrical installation, installation of transformers, new buildings (steel erection, brick/block, cladding), indoor/outdoor switch gear, cable laying, jointing and associated works. Duties include:-


  • Advise, support and assist staff on related construction, engineering, safety, health, quality, environmental matters complying to company systems, procedures, CDM and UK legislation

  • Produce & review construction phase health & safety plans, lift management plans, method statements and risk assessments

  • Evaluate and assess performance of subcontractors

  • Carry out construction site inspections, audits and accident reporting and investigation

  • Attend management, area safety, client contract review and alliance meetings

  • Deliver EUSR SHEA (Power) training and company contract induction training

Working as part of a project team carrying out construction works for Anglian Water under a 5 year term contract part of the AMP4 programme.  Overseeing the construction and engineering of a new water treatment works at Houghton St Giles value of £4.5 Million. Duties include:-

Part of the project team to manage/supervise the construction of a new Waste Water Treatment works, new terminal pumping station and interconnecting pipelines at Lowestoft (£70M).  Responsible for the interconnecting pipelines between the TPS and the WWTC (2x300mm, 600mm, 700mm diameter with large bore directional drilling)(£4.5M).
